In its Strategic Plan the University describes its
mission as follow:

we undertake groundbreaking research and deliver a world-class student experience in a campus

The mission of the Department is:

to support the University's research and scholarship by undertaking high-level research,
and to disseminate knowledge by international publication of the results;

to support the University's learning and teaching by provision of high-quality
degree programmes and modules;

to act as a resource for the South West of England by provision of expert consultancy
services and training courses as appropriate.
