Application process for funded places

  1. Refer to the lists of specific PhD projects and flexible PhD places, the School's research pages and the University's Postgraduate Studies pages and decide the project(s) and/or general research area(s) you are interested in.

  2. If you have any questions about specific projects or research areas please contact the staff members concerned who will be happy to talk with you on an informal basis. You are welcome to enquire about more than one project or research area, but to avoid confusion please tell the staff members concerned that you are doing so.

  3. If you have any further questions, contact the Postgraduate Admissions Tutor.

  4. Fill in the online application form. Codes for research programmes in this School are: MPhil/PhD in Physics (M334)/(A334).

Self- or Government-funded applicants

Suitably qualified self- or Government-funded applicants should consult our list of flexible PhD projects to decide the area of research they are most most interested in.

In some cases, international applicants with outstanding backgrounds may also be able to apply for funding through award schemes in their own countries.
