Postgraduate PhD Admissions
Application process for funded places
-
Refer to
the lists of specific PhD projects and
flexible PhD places,
the School's research pages and the University's Postgraduate Studies pages and decide the project(s) and/or
general research area(s) you are interested in.
-
If you have any questions about specific projects or research areas
please contact the staff members concerned who
will be happy to talk with you on an informal basis. You
are welcome to
enquire about more than one project or research area, but
to avoid confusion please
tell the staff members concerned that you are doing so.
-
If you have any further questions, contact the
Postgraduate Admissions Tutor.
-
Fill in the
online application form. Codes for research programmes in this School are: MPhil/PhD in Physics (M334)/(A334).
Eligible tudents
will then be considered for:
- School studentships, provided by EPSRC via its DTA scheme
(eligibility details);
- project studentships allocated to specific supervisors in the student's area of interest.
Self- or Government-funded applicants
Suitably qualified self- or Government-funded applicants should consult
our list of flexible PhD projects to decide the area of research
they are most most interested in.
Please also refer to the University
fees information page and should also ensure that they have
funding for living expenses. For further information see the
University's admissions
page for international students.
In some cases, international applicants with outstanding backgrounds may also be able to apply for funding through award schemes in their own countries.
