Our group were the first to experimentally explore the 'designer' surface plasmons which arise on structured metal surfaces. This now needs to be taken on a level with the study of anisotropic 'designer' surface plasmons. Initially a metal surface with rectangular holes will be explored and also a rectangular array of square holes will be explored. Then the project will move on to study the more elaborate 2D Bravais lattices and the more elaborate allowed symmetries. We also wish to explore a triangular array of triangular holes ( a self-similar surface) as well as surface with chiral character.
